🚀 Close is seeking experienced Senior and Staff Software Engineers based in the USA to join our fully remote team. Our company, founded in 2013, is a profitable and globally distributed team of ~70 individuals dedicated to building a sales communication platform that helps companies close deals faster.

We are currently looking for talented engineers to join our team and help us continue to grow and improve our product. Our backend tech stack includes Python Flask web apps with our TaskTiger scheduler handling backend tasks. We use MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, and Redis as our data stores and run on AWS using a mix of managed and non-managed services. Our infrastructure is heavily automated using tools like Terraform and Ansible.

We value open source and regularly contribute our code and ideas on GitHub and our behind-the-scenes product and engineering blog, The Making of Close. Check out our projects like SocketShark, TaskTiger, LimitLion, and ciso8601.

We are looking for individuals who are passionate about web technologies and have experience designing, implementing, launching, and scaling major systems and user-facing features. We value teamwork, effective communication, and a strong work ethic in our fast-paced and fully distributed team.

Requirements:

– Senior/Staff level candidates should have 5+ years of experience building modern back-end systems, while mid-level candidates should have ~3 years of similar experience and be eager to level up with the right opportunity.

– Hands-on production experience with MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, or similar data stores.
– Experience designing, scaling, debugging, and optimizing systems for performance and reliability.
– Participation in code reviews and providing code quality suggestions to maintain the structure and quality of the codebase.
– A commitment to producing high-quality work and a strong attention to detail.

Bonus points for:

– Contributing to open source code related to our tech stack.
– Leading small project teams to build and launch features.
– Experience with B2B SaaS products.
– Working with complex architectures that support multiple APIs (e.g. REST, GQL, WebSockets) and async task and event processing frameworks.

We offer:

– A company culture based on trust and autonomy.
– Remote work with the option to choose between a standard full-time schedule or a 4-day workweek at 80% pay.
– Annual team retreats and quarterly virtual summits.
– 5 weeks of paid time off plus a winter holiday break.
– Additional PTO days every year with the company and a 1-month paid sabbatical every 5 years.
– Paid parental leave.
– Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance options for US residents.
– 401k matching for US residents.

We encourage a healthy work-life balance and believe that self-care is essential for bringing your best to work. We come from diverse backgrounds and cultures, and every year we gather for a company retreat to strengthen our global community.
