Position Overview:
The Data Scientist II will report to the Manager of Data Science and be responsible for designing and implementing ETL pipelines to extract data from various sources for model training. You will also prototype machine learning models and communicate the impact of these models to stakeholders through presentations and reports. Additionally, you will be responsible for creating new analytical approaches and designing efficient data querying and modeling development.
Key Responsibilities:
– Design and implement ETL pipelines for data ingestion and transformation
– Extract data for model training from various sources
– Prototype machine learning models using best practices
– Articulate the impact of models and analyses to stakeholders
– Draft recommendations for optimizing product and underwriting policies
Your Impact:
As a Data Scientist II, you will play a key role in driving product recommendations and model development. You will communicate your analyses and results to the Data team, backed by data, to help drive business decisions. Your role will also involve creating new strategies and approaches to analyzing data and developing efficient models.
Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field
– 3 years of experience developing machine learning models using Python
– 2+ years of experience with data warehouse systems such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift
– Willingness to travel to the Oakland office once a month for team collaboration
Preferred Qualifications:
– PhD in Machine Learning or related field, or Master’s degree with equivalent experience
– 1-2 years of experience with data-driven model development
Location:
This role will be based in the San Francisco Bay Area. While we offer flexibility for remote work, we ask that employees join us at our Oakland office for 3 consecutive days each month for team collaboration and fun activities.
Compensation:
We are proud to offer competitive pay and benefits to our employees. The starting pay for this role will be determined based on qualifications, internal compensation, and budget. The pay range for this position is $142,000 – $160,000 USD.
