Position: Junior Backend Engineer at BlaBlaCar

Job Responsibilities:
As a Junior Backend Engineer, you will join the Monetize squad and be responsible for enhancing the payment user experience and implementing carpool monetization features. Your primary objective will be to contribute to the development of a scalable and reliable monetization and payment orchestration platform.
Key Duties:
– Collaborate in the design, development, and maintenance of Java microservices for BlaBlaCar’s monetization and payment orchestration platform
– Participate in the entire application lifecycle, from planning and design to deployment, monitoring, and support
– Expand your expertise in a critical aspect of BlaBlaCar’s infrastructure
– Work closely with product and design teams to define features and implement solutions that best meet the needs of our members
– Communicate effectively with diverse teams and share your technical knowledge with both technical and non-technical colleagues
Qualifications:
– Previous experience with Java and its frameworks, including Spring, Spring Boot, JUnit, and Mockito
– Understanding of service-oriented architecture and the ability to apply architectural patterns
– Excellent communication skills, a humble attitude, and a strong team player with a sense of humor
– Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and Datadog is a plus
– Fluent in English

– 60-minute video call with Engineering Manager, Emanuele, to discuss your experience and learn more about the team
– 90-minute live coding session with software engineers
– 60-minute design interview with two backend engineers
– 30-minute video call with VP Engineering, Gilles, for vision fit and finalizing the process
