Reports To: Director – Data Engineering

The Role:

J.D. Power, a leader in data and insights for the automotive industry, is seeking a talented Senior Associate in Data Engineering with strong quantitative and analytical skills. The ideal candidate will be driven to utilize their skills in basic data connection, joining, and exploration, as well as building basic data pipelines under supervision. In this role, you will also be responsible for executing repetitive production data operations and conducting basic quality assurance. Collaboration with team members will be essential in understanding data processing requirements and applying fundamental data engineering concepts.

The Impact You Will Have in This Role:

As a Senior Data Engineer at J.D. Power, you will contribute to the production of data products that solve problems for the automotive industry. Your work will directly impact both new and existing products.

What You’ll Be Doing in This Role:

– Working with automotive industry data on a daily basis
– Solving problems of moderate scope by analyzing various factors
– Utilizing judgement to determine appropriate actions within defined procedures and practices
– Conducting basic data processing and cleaning tasks
– Focusing on developing foundational skills in data operations
– Building strong working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders

Qualifications of this Role:

– Basic understanding of data cleaning and quality assurance techniques
– Familiarity with SAS, SQL, or basic data manipulation in Python, PySpark and R
– Exposure to basic data joining and pipeline building concepts, including tools like GCP dataflow & Palantir
– Knowledge of basic Big Data technologies
– Proficiency in Excel for data processing tasks
– Strong communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
– Knowledge of statistical analysis is desired
– Ability and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment
– Resilient work ethic
– Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience, or an advanced degree without experience, or equivalent work experience
