Position: Analytics Engineer at Pet Circle

Job Description:
Pet Circle is seeking an experienced Analytics Engineer to join our team in the Philippines. As part of our company-wide data governance program, you will be responsible for managing our data assets and ensuring data availability, quality, consistency, and security. With a focus on leveraging data and analytics, you will work with a variety of team members to drive strategic decision-making, optimize operations, and enhance pet care with personalized experiences for pets and their parents.
Key Responsibilities:
– Build and maintain a robust data environment by adding and refining data feeds, transforming data into models, and ensuring high availability and reliability for use within the business
– Utilize strong SQL skills and a deep understanding of “big data” databases to engineer solutions in Python, with a focus on accuracy, performance, and design
– Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and stakeholders to understand business goals and propose solutions
– Gather requirements, propose solutions, and provide support post-launch
– Work remotely with team members based in Australia, New Zealand, and the Philippines, operating on Philippines Standard Time or a few hours earlier as needed
Qualifications:
– 2-5+ years of experience in data engineering or analytics engineering
– Expertise in SQL and Python
– Experience with BI tools such as PowerBI or Tableau, preferably Looker
– Familiarity with data modeling and transformation pipelines using Dataform or DBT
– Experience with cloud-based data warehouses (e.g. BigQuery, Redshift, Snowflake, Databricks)
– Ability to collaborate and support non-technical users
– Autonomous, reliable, and excellent communication skills
– Comfortable working with remote and distributed teams
Technical Environment:
– Pet Circle runs a Big Query/GCP data environment with multiple inbound data feeds
– The Data & Analytics team uses Python, while Java is the primary language for internal systems
– Work directly with Google Cloud Platform and Big Query
– Code extracts and transforms using Python and Dataform
– Utilize relational databases to inform and build data models
Location:
This role is fully remote, based in the Philippines. You will work closely with team members in Australia, New Zealand, and the Philippines.
