Position: Head of Data Science at Philo
Philo, a leading streaming service for TV and movie enthusiasts, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Data Science to join our team. We are a group of highly skilled technology and product professionals who are passionate about delivering the best TV experience through modern technology and hand-crafted app experiences.
Role Summary:
As the Head of Data Science, you will lead a team of data scientists, engineers, and analysts to drive data-driven insights and support our product goals. You will work closely with stakeholders across the organization to ensure that Philo has reliable and accurate data to make informed business decisions. This role requires strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of data architecture and statistical modeling, and the ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
– Own all data-related activities at Philo, ensuring stakeholders have timely and accurate data-driven insights.
– Oversee core data science work, including product experiments, growth and acquisition modeling, and customer journey analysis.
– Manage the quality and performance of Philo’s data platform, including data architecture, governance, and security.
– Collaborate with the engineering team and AI/ML engineers to support the development of Philo’s content recommendation system.
– Partner with business and finance teams to provide data insights and support decision-making.
– Lead and mentor the data team, identifying and hiring top talent as the company continues to grow.
Qualifications:
– 10+ years of experience in a Data Science role, with 7+ years leading teams of data scientists and engineers.
– Proven experience overseeing a data team and managing data-driven projects.
– Strong skills in data architecture, statistical modeling, A/B testing, and SQL.
– Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex data findings to a variety of audiences.
– Deep understanding of business priorities and the ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
– Experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment is a plus.
– Familiarity with Machine Learning and Deep Learning is a strong plus.

Location: San Francisco, CA or remote within the U.S.
Compensation: Annual salary between $240K – $300K depending on experience and location, company stock options, and health benefits.
