Position Description:

We are seeking a talented Risk and Insights Lead to lead the development and maintenance of Sayari’s growing global data assets. This role requires a unique blend of strategic thinking, business acumen, technical expertise, and talent development. Sayari’s end users rely on our data to make critical decisions, and you will be responsible for overseeing the success of our data enrichment features, including precomputed risk factors.

In this role, you will work with over 6 billion records from bills of lading and corporate business filings, transforming them into a comprehensive and user-friendly knowledge graph. Your team will be responsible for ensuring accurate entity naming, displaying the latest entity status, enhancing translations, validating shareholder status, improving geocodes, and more. You will also oversee the development of risk factors, including list-based risk, network-based risk, and typology-based risk, which provide valuable insights through unique data attributes. Your work will directly impact the success of all our software and data products, and you will have the opportunity to turn challenges into user-focused solutions.

This position is part of Sayari’s Data Insights Lab, a team of data and investigations experts who ensure our software platforms are backed by comprehensive, up-to-date, and well-structured data assets. You will report to the Senior Director for Global Data and work collaboratively with our dynamic product organization. As the Risk and Insights Lead, you will manage a team of at least two Product Analysts.

Job Responsibilities:

Team Leadership: Mentor and guide team members, drive performance, and implement talent management strategies to enhance overall team effectiveness.

Functional Requirements: Translate user feedback and product-level requirements into actionable functional specifications that enhance Sayari’s data enrichment features. Use your data and analytical expertise to guide the development of rigorous, data-backed precomputed risk factors and enrichment initiatives.

Acceptance Criteria and Quality: Set acceptance criteria for functional requirements with a user-first mindset and monitor these criteria over time. Ensure our data enrichment features and precomputed risk factors consistently meet established quality standards, exceed user expectations, and show a clear return on investment.

Testing and Iteration: Drive continuous enhancements to Sayari’s data enrichment features and develop new risk factors by regularly analyzing user feedback and engaging with customers. Ensure our methodologies evolve with user needs and new data types.

Feature Implementation: Collaborate with Data Engineering peers to implement data enrichment features, weigh trade-offs, provide business direction, and prioritize tickets based on business impact and customer needs.

Expert Input to Product Management: Support Product Managers in prioritizing enrichment and risk data work to achieve the best product outcomes. Leverage your detailed understanding of existing business logic to ensure product roadmaps drive optimal business outcomes.

Cross-functional Collaboration: Develop trusted and productive working relationships with Product Management, Data Engineering, and other relevant teams. Success in your role, as well as theirs, will require close collaboration and utilization of complementary skill sets from research and ideation through implementation.

Manage Data Labeling Projects: Design and oversee data labeling and curation projects with our outsourced analyst team to provide machine learning training data and accelerate enrichment work. Coordinate with the Director of Data Sourcing and utilize a team of junior analysts to support your mission.

Documentation and Reporting: Work with Data Engineering to maintain and improve all documentation relevant to your portfolio, including dashboards, spreadsheets, FAQs, business logic documents, and ontology documents. Ensure partner teams and company leadership have timely and easy access to information about data enrichment.

Maintain Domain Expertise: Proactively maintain your product and domain expertise by regularly using our products, engaging with Solutions and customers, following market and regulatory trends, and more.

Required Skills and Experience:

5-10 years of relevant experience in data products, investigations, risk management, data science, or a similar field

Subject matter expertise and professional experience working with global commercial data, trade data, risk data for Sayari priority domains, or other relevant data types

Familiarity with Sayari and/or other investigative and supply chain risk management software

Extensive experience leading diverse teams with a proven track record in employee development

Experience with GitHub, SuperSet, MixPanel, Hex, and BigQuery; general technical fluency and/or interest

Critical thinker with exceptional prioritization and time management skills; able to problem-solve and work under pressure

Thrives on new challenges; comfortable working independently and wearing many hats; start-up mindset with experience in high-growth/SaaS environments

Desired Skills and Experience:

Direct experience supporting data and risk intelligence products

Experience leading and growing teams

Experience with Agile software development

Coding experience, preferably Python

Professional language proficiency in Chinese, Russian, Arabic, Spanish, or French
