Compensation: $200,000 – $250,000 USD + Bonus
Location: Remote – Work from home in the US* or Ontario
Overview
Automox is a rapidly growing, venture-backed SaaS company revolutionizing IT Operations with our cloud-native platform. Our platform processes tens of thousands of events per second, helping enterprises monitor, manage, and optimize their IT infrastructure in real-time. As we continue to scale, we are seeking an experienced Data Architect to lead us into our next phase of growth and re-imagine our data architecture.
As our Data Architect, you will be responsible for the technical vision and implementation of our next-generation data architecture. You will work closely with our engineering teams to design and implement scalable solutions that can handle millions of concurrent events while maintaining sub-second latency. This is a unique opportunity to shape the foundation of a high-growth platform using cutting-edge AWS services and distributed systems patterns.
What You’ll Be Doing
– Lead the design and implementation of our new data platform, with a focus on scalability, reliability, and performance
– Develop real-time data processing pipelines capable of handling tens of thousands of events per second
– Utilize AWS services such as Kinesis, DynamoDB, RedShift, and EMR to architect solutions
– Establish data modeling standards and best practices for the engineering organization
– Collaborate with engineering teams to implement new data architecture patterns
– Create migration strategies for transitioning from our current architecture to new solutions
– Mentor engineers on data modeling and architectural best practices
– Partner with product management to align technical architecture with business goals
Background & Skills Required
– Minimum of 8 years of experience in data architecture, with at least 3 years focused on high-throughput distributed systems
– Proven experience designing and implementing systems that process 1M+ events per second
– Deep expertise with AWS data services (Kinesis, DynamoDB, RedShift, S3, EMR)
– Strong background in data modeling for both operational and analytical workloads
– Experience with real-time stream processing frameworks such as Apache Kafka or Amazon Kinesis
– Demonstrated success in re-architecting large-scale production systems
– Expertise in distributed systems patterns and eventual consistency models
Nice to Haves
– Experience with IT Operations or observability platforms
– Knowledge of time-series databases such as Prometheus, InfluxDB, or Timestream
– Background in implementing data mesh or data lake architectures
– Familiarity with Apache Cassandra or other distributed databases
– Understanding of OpenTelemetry and similar observability standards
– Proven track record of technical leadership in a high-growth environment

– Kubernetes for container orchestration
– Primary languages: Python, Go, Java
– Modern CI/CD practices

The salary range listed is the base pay range for this position. In addition, the total compensation package includes bonus, equity, and benefits. Actual earnings may vary depending on a candidate’s direct experience, skills, industry knowledge, and location.
Compensation: $170,000 – $210,000 USD Apply link
