Prolific, a leading player in the AI space, is seeking a highly skilled Staff Data Scientist to join our team. This role will report to the VP of Data, Research & Analytics and will focus on leading impactful projects, mentoring junior data scientists, and raising the technical standards across the team. Key Responsibilities:
– Mastery of Data Science Stack: Fluent in Python/R and SQL with deep expertise in data science libraries (e.g. scikit-learn, pandas), familiar with MLOps, and able to take models from development to production.
– Modeling Expert: Knowledge of classical statistical methods to state-of-the-art machine learning techniques and the ability to choose and apply the right tool for each unique problem.
– Big Data Proficiency: Comfortable working with large-scale data using technologies like Spark and understanding the challenges of scaling data processing pipelines.
– Statistical Rigor: Strong foundation in statistics and ability to design and analyze experiments to drive data-informed decisions.
– Data Storytelling: Skilled at turning complex analyses into clear, compelling narratives through visualization and effective communication.
– Project Leadership: Track record of leading complex data science initiatives that deliver tangible business value.
– Bar Raiser: Passionate about mentoring other data scientists and raising the technical bar for the entire team.
– Product-Driven Mindset: Thrives in fast-paced environments and able to balance speed with quality to drive rapid product impact.
– Engineering Best Practices: Well-versed in software engineering principles like version control, testing, and code review to ensure robust and maintainable code.
– Influence Without Authority: Able to effectively communicate with and influence stakeholders across the organization, from engineers to executives.
– Clear Communication: Ability to break down complex technical concepts into easily digestible explanations for diverse audiences.
– Effective Prioritization: Skilled at managing multiple competing priorities and helping the team do the same, always focusing on high-impact work.
Requirements:
– Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
– Minimum of 5 years of experience in data science roles.
– Expertise in Python/R, SQL, and data science libraries (e.g. scikit-learn, pandas).
– Strong understanding of MLOps and experience taking models from development to production.
– Experience with classical statistical methods and state-of-the-art machine learning techniques.
– Familiarity with big data technologies like Spark and scaling data processing pipelines.
