Job Description:
We are looking for a mid-level Systems Software Engineer to join our Device Engineering team at Headspin. In this role, you will be responsible for developing tools to automate and instrument mobile devices, as well as building production-grade back-end services. Your expertise in debugging systems and digging into device internals over USB will be crucial to the success of our team.
Responsibilities:
– Collaborate with team members to research mobile device software ecosystems and develop innovative products
– Build products and contribute to features that enable our customers to test, inspect, and measure the reliability and performance of their mobile apps
– Write mobile applications to leverage supported device frameworks
– Analyze and disassemble code to understand how proprietary device services operate
– Develop software that extends the horizon of what is possible in the mobile device space
– Diagnose customer issues and use findings to strengthen our products
– Communicate technical details to non-technical support staff in a solutions-oriented manner
Requirements:
– Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
– 2+ years of software development experience
– Deep familiarity with operating systems and networks
– Proficiency in backend programming language Python, and willingness to learn Go if required
– Experience with reverse engineering tools such as Hopper, IDA Pro, Ghidra, or Capstone
– Ability to work in MacOS and Linux command-line environments
– Knowledge of Objective-C, Swift, Apple development ecosystem, and mobile app technologies (bonus)
– Comfortable with a debugger, disassembler, packet sniffer, hex editor, etc. (bonus)
Other Qualifications:
– Master’s degree in computer science or related field (preferred)
– Ability to handle open-ended research tasks and find solutions independently
– Excellent problem-solving skills
– Ability to read and implement technical specifications
– Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical individuals
