Allied Talent Partners, a talent marketplace connecting experienced professionals with climate-related projects and businesses in Africa, is seeking a Quantitative Analyst for a client that is a philanthropic investment organization focused on increasing the number of bankable, climate-related projects and businesses in emerging markets and developing economies. The client’s initial focus regions are Southeast Asia, the Caribbean and Central America, Africa, and India.
Role Overview:
The Quantitative Analyst will work with a team to estimate the equity financing needs in emerging markets and developing economies (EMDEs) aligned with various climate scenarios, analyze the breakdown of these needs by key regions and sectors, create a prioritization framework for investment flow, and publish a research paper with findings for the investment and policy ecosystem. The team lead will also manage stakeholder engagement with Allied Climate Partners (ACP), GFANZ, CPI, and Three Cairns Group.
Key Responsibilities:
– Estimate the amount of equity finance needed to support the transition in EMDEs under different scenarios, and identify key regions, sectors, and priority countries where this equity can be most catalytic.
– Build on the initial estimate by CPI to provide a more detailed and quantitative baseline and needs estimate for climate equity in EMDEs.
– Disaggregate the analysis by regions/countries, sectors/technology areas, and investment types and sources.
– Demonstrate how catalytic equity and blended finance mechanisms can mobilize higher levels of capital, and estimate the volumes required to close the gap.
– Assess the potential for developing and publishing a digital tool and dataset on EMDE equity finance needs and mobilization potential.
Requirements:
Experience:
– 4-6+ years of deep quantitative analysis, with a preference for exposure to scenario modeling in climate/energy transition environments.
– Proven experience in driving a project to deliverable in a complex stakeholder environment.
– Strong understanding of the EMDE climate equity landscape, including Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs), Development Finance Institutions (DFIs), private sector investors, and philanthropic organizations.
Technical Skills:
– Strong quantitative analysis skills and proficiency in data analysis/modeling tools.
– Understanding or exposure to scenario modeling.
– Exceptional problem-solving ability, logical reasoning, and creative thinking.
Soft Skills:
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey complex concepts clearly.
– A strong bias for action and the ability to manage time effectively to ensure all responsibilities are completed efficiently and all deadlines are met.
Working Arrangement:
– Location: Remote.
– Operational requirements: Must be able to speak English.

Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in economics, finance, or a related field.
– Experience working with climate/energy transition projects or businesses in emerging markets and developing economies is preferred.
– Knowledge of climate finance mechanisms and their role in mobilizing private capital.
– Proficiency in statistical analysis and modeling tools (e.g. Excel, R, Python) is a plus.
– Familiarity with digital tools and datasets related to climate finance is a plus. Apply link
