About the Role:
Big Cartel is seeking a highly skilled and creative Principal Product Designer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for evolving our platform and shaping the future of e-commerce for makers, creators, and small indie businesses. This is an exciting opportunity to solve complex design problems and make a significant impact on our product.
Responsibilities:
– Lead end-to-end design process for our web and mobile app products, from user research to prototyping and visual design
– Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product Management, Engineering, Marketing, Growth, and Customer Success to integrate design thinking across the company
– Maintain high standards of product quality by closely working with engineers in an iterative process
– Contribute to our design culture and thinking across the company
– Take ownership of product features and align project goals with our product strategy and roadmap
– Be a generalist and go above and beyond to ensure projects are completed successfully and meet customer needs
Requirements:
– 8+ years of design experience with a strong portfolio showcasing your design skills
– Experience in solving complex problems with simple and elegant design solutions
– Ability to balance creating delightful user experiences with business goals and timelines
– Proficiency in Figma and other design tools
– Strong team player with excellent communication and collaboration skills
– Detail-oriented and passionate about creating usable and delightful products
– Self-starter who is curious and eager to learn
– Prior experience working remotely and aligning work schedules with team members in different time zones
