Job Description:
The Staff Validation Software Engineer will be a key member of our Systems Engineering team. This team serves as a technical liaison between various departments, including Product, Program, Legal, Engineering, and Testing, to ensure the successful development and launch of our self-driving vehicles. The Staff Validation Software Engineer will be responsible for designing and implementing offline software and tools, building data visualizations, and analyzing data to validate systems engineering requirements and improve vehicle performance and safety.
Responsibilities:
– Use Python and SQL to design and implement software and tools for Autonomous Vehicle validation
– Build data tools and visualizations to accelerate launch and release decision making
– Scale validation tooling and framework improvements for new and existing markets
– Set coding and data quality standards for risk and simulation testing confidence tools
– Continuously develop new methods to improve risk and simulation testing confidence signals
– Act as a liaison to multiple behavior capability and autonomy teams, providing tools and methods for accelerated decision making
– Analyze Autonomous Vehicle data to validate systems engineering requirements and influence development
– Lead and communicate data analyses, trade studies, and safety analysis to improve systems function and performance
– Develop methods to analyze and compare the impact of software changes on top level systems engineering requirements
– Define requirements and establish tools to monitor the quality of systems engineering validation products
– Provide leadership and guidance to less senior members of the team, maintaining quality and efficiency standards
Qualifications:
– BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or a related field
– 10+ years of postgraduate experience in software engineering, data science, systems engineering, robotics, or a related field
– Strong experience with Python and SQL, with bonus points for experience with C++
– Ability to understand complex technical systems
– Adaptability and ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment
– Ability to prioritize and maintain focus on technical work
– Strong technical and non-technical communication skills
– Bonus points for experience with robotics, autonomous vehicles, vehicle development, ADAS development, statistics, probability, Jupyter, Looker, or other data processing tools
– Industry experience in system engineering and verification & validation activities
– Proven track record of successful systems engineering for a safety-critical product
Compensation:
The salary range for this position is $166,600 – $245,000, with potential for bonuses, long-term incentives, and benefits. The exact compensation package will vary based on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Licensed Candidate Requirement:
Candidates applying for roles that involve operating and remotely operating self-driving vehicles must be licensed to drive a motor vehicle in the U.S. for the three years prior to their application, hold an active in-state regular driver’s license or equivalent, and have no more than one point on their driving record.
