About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and innovative leader to spearhead our data science and machine learning efforts at TailorCare. In this role, you will set the technical direction for our team, guide solutioning for exciting business problems, ensure clarity in scope and deliverables, communicate progress, and help resolve dependencies. As a fast-paced healthcare start-up constantly prototyping new solutions for patients, providers, and internal clinical operations, you will play a key role in identifying opportunities where data can be leveraged to solve business problems at scale. Your leadership will be instrumental in guiding our data science and machine learning team to move quickly and deliver high-quality solutions. You will collaborate closely with leaders across data engineering, analytics, medecon, product, and software engineering to make strategic investments that meet and anticipate business needs. This role offers significant potential for personal and professional growth, as well as the opportunity to build a strong team.

Key Responsibilities:

– Lead and develop a high-performing data science and machine learning team to prototype, productionize, and iterate upon solutions that drive business impact.
– Oversee the entire lifecycle of data science projects, including scoping, design, modeling, validation, and deployment.
– Collaborate with product, data engineering, analytics, medecon, and other stakeholders to execute on the roadmap.
– Foster a team culture of technical excellence and innovation.
– Help the team make quick decisions and deliver high-quality work.
– Identify and champion new opportunities for using data to deliver value to patients and providers.

Key Qualifications:

– 7+ years of experience in data science, including building and deploying machine learning models and applications.
– 5+ years of experience managing data science and/or machine learning teams.
– Proven track record of hiring, retaining, and developing top talent.
– Strong knowledge of ML, NLP, LLM technologies, and working with large datasets.
– Excellent communication and presentation skills.
– Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (preferably data science, healthcare informatics, statistics, economics, mathematics, or computer science) or equivalent work experience.
– Experience in healthcare, healthcare data (such as claims data, aggregate patient data, and value-based contracting), and/or start-up environments is highly preferred.
