Job Description:

As the VP of Data Engineering at A&F Co., you will lead the data-focused Technology, Engineering, and Platform teams to empower business insights and decisions. Reporting to the SVP of Data & Analytics, you will collaborate with senior stakeholders to understand the technology across teams and products. Your role will be to deliver technology that enables data’s role in our overall business strategy, with a focus on maintaining high-quality, reliable, and accessible data for all partners and services.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the execution of data projects to support A&F’s goals and strategic initiatives.
• Build and enhance the organization’s technical capabilities to ingest, integrate, model, and transform internal and external datasets at scale.
• Modernize Data Engineering infrastructure to support A&F’s global business growth and franchise/third-party partnerships.
• Develop the technical data strategy in partnership with the SVP of Data Analytics.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional leaders to ensure data is used as a strategic competitive advantage.
• Ensure the Data Engineering organization has the necessary resources, capacity, and skills to meet company goals.
• Act as a trusted advisor to the CTO leadership team in developing strategy.
• Manage costs associated with running Data infrastructure and operations.
• Ensure data assets are secure and compliant with regulatory requirements.
• Strengthen external partnerships to access talent and technical capabilities.
• Build advocacy for data and data engineering best practices within the organization.
• Drive performance management and employee development for the Data Engineering team.
• Maintain transparent communication within the team and across departments.
• Lead and motivate teams to create a workplace culture consistent with A&F’s leadership standards.

Qualifications:

• Strong experience with data technologies such as Azure, PowerBI, Snowflake, Tableau, and Databricks.
• Knowledge of and hands-on ability with modern data technologies.
• Ability to make technology and architecture decisions and guide the organization on best practices.
• Proven track record of transforming and modernizing cloud-based technology in a data-intensive space.
• Experience with data governance, quality, and security.
• 15+ years of experience in a pivotal data leadership role, including managing large data engineering organizations.
• Track record of recruiting and developing top talent in a global environment.
• Ability to build relationships and drive business value across the organization.
• Experience building infrastructure, platforms, and data science tools/products to solve complex business problems.
• Previous experience in data-heavy environments and consumer/retail technologies preferred.
• Experience working in a multi-company or agile environment is a plus.
• Experience leading urgent/on-call support teams is preferred.

Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, your years of experience, your work location, comparison to other employees in similar or related roles, or market demands.
