Job Description:

We are seeking a talented Senior Data Engineer to join our Data Engineering team, led by our Director of Data Engineering. The team is responsible for transforming billions of data points from our products and services into actionable insights that drive product strategy and development. In this role, you will utilize your software engineering and analytics skills to manage data pipelines across various business units, including Sales, Marketing, Finance, HR, Customer Support, Engineering, and Product Development.

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a key role in designing and implementing event ingestion, data models, and ETL processes to support critical reporting and analysis. You will also be responsible for building our ML infrastructure to support data scientists and enhance our analytics capabilities. Our data stack includes Snowflake as our central data warehouse, DBT/Airflow as the orchestration layer, and Looker for visualization and reporting. Data is sourced from various cloud sources and systems, such as Segment, Fivetran, S3, and Kafka. You will collaborate with other data engineers, analysts, and subject matter experts to deliver impactful outcomes for the organization. As our company continues to grow, you will play a crucial role in ensuring reliable and secure data flows to all business units and providing valuable insights and analytics.

Responsibilities:

– Develop and manage ETL jobs, warehouses, and event collection tools for data processing and distribution
– Build and maintain the Central Data Model for reporting purposes
– Integrate new methodologies, technologies, and version control practices within the team
– Design and implement data pipelines and tooling to support ML and AI projects
– Support SOC2 compliance across the data platform
– Enable stakeholders and other data practitioners throughout the organization
– Maintain technical documentation for architecture and processes

Qualifications:

– 4+ years of relevant industry experience
– Proficiency in data modeling and building scalable data pipelines with complex transformations
– Experience with Data Warehouse platforms, preferably Snowflake or BigQuery
– Familiarity with data governance, access, and security controls, particularly in Snowflake and dbt
– Strong proficiency in Python and SQL for developing production-ready ETL scripts and pipelines
– Experience with orchestration frameworks such as Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect
– Knowledge of cloud ecosystems, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
– Experience with BI and visualization tools, such as Tableau or Looker
– Agile experience working on multiple projects and prioritizing work based on organizational goals
– Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal

What to Expect:

In the first 30 days:
– Onboard and meet with data engineers, analysts, and key stakeholders
– Gain an understanding of the current data architecture and pipelines
– Review current projects, roadmap, and priorities
– Identify opportunities for quick wins to improve data engineering and analyst experience
– Familiarize yourself with privacy and compliance requirements and current design workflows

In the first 90 days:
– Contribute to data engineering projects
– Recommend continuous improvements for data pipelines and infrastructure
