Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Lead Level Designer to join our team and help us shape the future of AAA gaming. If you are a unicorn with a love for top-quality, single-player linear narrative games and have a background in action/adventure/shooters, we want you to join our team! As the Lead Level Designer, you will have the opportunity to guide and collaborate with level designers and other content and feature creation teams. Your responsibilities will include developing level content, defining design metrics and principles, ensuring quality, and meeting with company executives.
Requirements:
– Proven experience with 3rd-person shooter mechanics and melee combat
– Strong proficiency in level design, traversal systems, puzzle systems, and action set-pieces
– Excellent visual and verbal communication skills
– Ability to seamlessly integrate narrative elements into core gameplay systems
– A holistic vision that considers the relationship between story, game mechanics, and technology
– Familiarity with narrative structure and cinematic visuals
– Knowledge of Unreal Engine
– Technical competence with level-layout and scripting tools
Responsibilities:
– Report to the Game Director and review level designs
– Mentor and guide other level designers towards holistic game-wide design goals
– Collaborate with the Creative Director and Game Director to establish and achieve the vision of the game
– Lead by example by developing prototypes and shipping levels
– Create new mechanics, systems, event scripting, and interactive objects
– Work closely with engineering, animation, art, and design teams to implement content and solve workflow issues

Compensation and Benefits:
That’s No Moon takes into account various factors, such as industry benchmarks, location, experience, and job-specific skills, when determining base pay for each role. In addition to base pay, this position may be eligible for other incentive compensation, including equity and profit share. The estimated base pay range for this role is $150,000 – $190,000, applicable to U.S. locations only.
