As a Senior Backend Engineer at Deel, you will:
– Be an integral part of a cross-functional team
– Participate in product planning from discovery to deployment, with your input valued at all stages of the Software Development Lifecycle
– Collaborate with other teams to develop new features, APIs, and continuously improve our products
– Ensure our customers receive a top-notch experience with our products
What the Infra Engineering team does:
Our team was created to support Deel’s engineering growth and build a platform for product teams to ship value faster. We have a dedicated DevOps team that takes care of the infrastructure while we work on the edge between DevOps and engineering. Our responsibilities include enforcing standards and best practices, creating tooling, maintaining internal libraries, providing architectural guidance, and owning some of the core services. Our team also responds to production incidents when needed, making our work 70% engineering and 30% DevOps. We have a lot of freedom in our roles, but this also comes with a great deal of responsibility.
We are looking for someone who:
– Has at least 7 years of engineering experience
– Has strong knowledge of Node.js
– Has experience with AWS or a similar cloud platform
– Is familiar with Kubernetes, Helm, and Docker
– Has experience with databases like Postgres or MySQL, as well as messaging systems like RabbitMQ, NATS, or Kafka
– Has strong system design and problem-solving skills
– Has excellent communication skills, as we often work with multiple teams on projects
– Is a hands-on troubleshooter
– Is ready for challenges
Bonus points if you also have experience with:
– Building internal tooling, such as npm packages or frameworks
