LOCATION🌍
This role is based in Portugal, with the option of a hybrid model in our office hub in Porto. You will need to be able to commute to our office hub as required.
WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH 👨🏽🤝👨🏼
As a Software Engineer in Test, you will be part of a dedicated team of Software Quality Engineers responsible for ensuring the high quality of the Hostelworld platform. You will collaborate closely with other technology teams and business owners to define quality standards and processes for software design, development, and deployment. Your goal will be to maintain an efficient, secure, and high-performing platform to support our business growth.
With a minimum of 4+ years’ experience in Software Quality Assurance, with a focus on Test Automation for high-volume customer-facing platforms, you are well-versed in delivering robust solutions for enterprise-level projects. You will have hands-on technical responsibilities, working to expand and maintain our test automation suites, both individually and as a team. You will also support and mentor junior team members, driving continuous improvement in quality and delivery.
WHAT YOU’LL DO 👩💻
– Build, maintain, and monitor our Playwright Automation suites for Hostelworld websites and applications.
– Define and gather metrics and KPIs to measure the performance of the automation suites and adapt working practices accordingly.
– Support and mentor junior team members in automation skills and best practices.
– Take ownership of the automation suites under your team’s responsibility.
– Support Quality Assurance activities in software development teams, including estimating, prioritizing, planning, and coordinating.
– Implement best practices and tools to maintain quality standards effectively.
– Maintain and execute test cases and regression test suites.
– Provide production support and manage patch/hot-fixes.
– Report and track issues using Jira, creating reproducible scenarios for all stakeholders.
– Support regulatory/audit/security QA internally and with external partners.
– Ensure sufficient test coverage for customer-facing channels and internal web tools.
– Collaborate with product management and technical leadership to create roadmaps for improving quality.
– Contribute to a positive working environment aligned with our company culture.
– Keep stakeholders informed of any activities that may affect their individual goals.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR 👀
– Minimum of 4+ years’ experience in Software Quality Assurance.
– Strong automation skills, with a deep understanding of automation frameworks and best practices.
– Experience with coding patterns like POM or ScreenPlay.
– Proven experience in gathering automation metrics and adapting approaches for efficiency.
– Experience working in dispersed QA teams, delivering software in Cloud environments.
– Comfortable working with diverse technologies, including Google Cloud Platform, Playwright, TypeScript, Cucumber, LambdaTest, TestRail, Jenkins, Docker, NodeJS, Python, and Java.
– Strong people skills, able to foster a collaborative and open culture.
– Ability to work independently with software vendors to resolve issues and conduct Proof of Concept for new tools/features.
– Excellent organization and time-management skills, able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
– Ability to handle customer/stakeholder escalations and manage competing priorities.
– Effective communication skills, able to work with team members and stakeholders across the organization.
– Knowledge of modern quality approaches, such as BDD, is a plus.
