Staff Designer at Clutch

We are seeking an experienced staff product designer to join our expanding team, working towards our mission of empowering credit unions to offer superior banking experiences to their members.
We are looking for a designer who is passionate about understanding people and processes, and not just pixels. The ideal candidate will have experience in building both business tools and consumer products, with a focus on service-oriented design.
As a staff designer at Clutch, you will have the opportunity to work on large, complex projects and play a key role in shaping our product strategy and design processes. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor junior designers, and contribute to ongoing design projects. Additionally, you will have the chance to shape our design culture and company strategy.

Responsibilities:
– Acquire deep domain and process knowledge within 3 months, fully onboarded with our company vision and design processes.
– Build strong relationships with cross-functional teams, including Product, Engineering, and Customer Success.
– Contribute to ongoing design projects within 3 months, in discovery, exploration, build, and test phases.
– Take full ownership of larger, more ambiguous, higher-impact design projects within 6 months.
– Shape design guidelines, patterns, and best practices to ensure consistency across products.
– Mentor junior designers and facilitate strategic workshops and reviews.
– Provide key insights and design direction that help shape the product roadmap based on user research.
– Help grow the team by interviewing senior candidates within 9 months.
– Take on a larger initiative around improving design culture and/or refining team processes within 9 months.
– Help identify strategic product opportunities and align design goals with business objectives.
– Have a strong voice in cross-functional leadership discussions, influencing product direction and priorities.
Requirements:
– At least 8 years of relevant experience as an individual contributor on an in-house product design/experience design team.
– A portfolio with native and/or web projects that highlights your approach to problem solving, as well as the solutions themselves.
– Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with a well-defined design process.
– Experience partnering with cross-functional teams to craft product strategy.
– Experience coaching more junior designers.
– Ability to make a big impact in a fast-paced, startup environment.
– Bonus points for experience in fintech and/or credit unions, service design, systems thinking, and systems design.
