Overview:
F&G is a leading provider of annuity and life insurance products, dedicated to providing security and protection to individuals during retirement and life’s unexpected events. We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Software Engineer to join our dynamic team.
Key Responsibilities:
– Collaborate with Architects to design functional solutions and develop roadmaps for new business operations processing
– Take ownership of the delivery of multiple complex business-facing technologies to achieve desired outcomes for order entry, case management, and underwriting processes
– Lead the design, coding, testing, and documentation of software solutions, ensuring high performance and adherence to F&G’s software development methodologies, frameworks, standards, and security requirements
– Perform tests, including unit, regression, security, and load tests, to validate code readiness for production
– Mentor and coach other developers, providing input on performance evaluations
– Lead application security remediation and collaborate with the Security team
– Conduct impact analysis for interface and system changes affecting the applications environment
– Translate business needs into technical solutions and develop estimates for project and maintenance work
– Design custom or third-party solutions and oversee their integrations
– Review code to ensure compliance with architecture standards
– Provide technical expertise on multiple complex projects and strategize with business and technology stakeholders to define future-state business capabilities and requirements
Requirements:
– Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
– 10+ years of hands-on technical experience in designing and building applications and interfaces
– Prior leadership experience
– Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and experience with various methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.)
– Significant experience with multiple databases, including SQL server and/or Oracle
– Knowledge of secure development practices and OWASP Top Ten preferred
– Experience with API management platforms, such as MuleSoft, Azure API Management, AWS API Gateway, or Apigee preferred
– Familiarity with production batch cycle preferred
– Experience within a Financial Services/Insurer’s IT organization preferred
Skills & Qualifications:
– Expert in writing complex code and working in Informatica
– Proficient in developing in .Net/Java
– Self-starter with a high energy level and willingness to take on responsibility
– Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as conflict resolution skills
– Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities
– Ability to work in a dynamic environment
– Proficient in creating technical documentation and building relationships with vendors and business partners
– Ability to mentor others and act as a project lead within an initiative
– Strong conceptualization, planning, and software development skills
Other Requirements:
– Regular and punctual attendance
– Some travel required (less than 10%)
