Position Overview:
Prosper is seeking a (Sr.) Data Scientist to join their Data Science team under the Credit Risk Analytics vertical. This role will be a core contributor and require expertise in machine learning to deliver impactful results for the company.
Key Responsibilities:
– Develop industry-leading machine learning models to manage credit and fraud risks
– Utilize complex data sources, such as credit bureau reports and customer information, to optimize credit decisions
– Collaborate with engineers to deploy models into a production environment
– Propose and execute solutions to business problems within regulatory guidelines
– Use responsible AI techniques to adhere to lending best practices
– Develop tools and workflows to increase data science productivity
– Monitor credit risk models in production and make necessary adjustments
– Extract valuable insights from data to impact key business metrics
– Evaluate the usefulness and validity of machine learning algorithms and features using various data sources
– Conduct ad-hoc analyses related to risk management, investor services, operations, and corporate development
Qualifications:
– 3-6+ years of experience in fintech, finance, or other high-impact fields utilizing statistical and machine learning techniques (educational experience considered)
– Advanced degree (M.S./PhD) in statistics, computer science, engineering, physical sciences, economics, or related technical field
– Expert knowledge in statistical programming languages such as Python and database languages like SQL
– Solid understanding of coding best practices and model documentation
– Strong communication and interpersonal skills
– Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects
– Familiarity with regulatory guidelines and a commitment to reproducible research
– Self-motivated, results-oriented, enthusiastic, and creative
