Headspace is seeking a talented Senior Software Engineer, Generative AI to join our team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact by developing and optimizing generative AI models that support Headspace’s mission of improving health and happiness worldwide. You will work closely with a cross-functional team of engineers, data scientists, and product teams to integrate generative AI capabilities into our products and services. This is a remote or on-site position located in our Santa Monica, San Francisco or Seattle office.

Your responsibilities will include:

– Leading the design, training, and optimization of large-scale generative AI models to support innovative use cases across Headspace.
– Owning the lifecycle of generative AI initiatives, from ideation to deployment, ensuring robust and scalable production systems.
– Building and enhancing the generative AI platform using AWS and modern development tools, with a focus on Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices.
– Ensuring the scalability and reliability of generative AI systems by implementing robust CI/CD pipelines, monitoring solutions, and alerting systems.
– Partnering with data scientists, engineers, and product teams to integrate generative AI capabilities into Headspace’s products and services.
– Guiding and mentoring team members, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.

Qualifications:

– Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
– 3+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on AI/ML systems, including developing and deploying generative models.
– Proficiency in machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) and Python.
– Familiarity with database management and querying, such as SQL, MongoDB, or similar systems.
– Strong experience with AWS and IaC tools such as Terraform.
– Solid understanding of ML infrastructure, including data pipelines, model serving, and scaling solutions.
– Demonstrated ability to deliver impactful AI solutions in production environments.
– Hands-on experience implementing and maintaining AI/ML best practices, such as CI/CD pipelines and monitoring.
– Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
– A collaborative team player with experience mentoring peers and contributing to shared team goals.

Compensation:

The base salary range for this role is $116,645-$157,476, based on skills, experience, and qualifications. In addition to a competitive salary, Headspace offers a comprehensive Total Rewards package, including stock awards, healthcare coverage, a monthly wellness stipend, retirement savings match, lifetime Headspace membership, unlimited, free mental health coaching, generous parental leave, and more.
