Position: Design Engineer at Xata
About the company:

Role and responsibilities:
As a Design Engineer at Xata, you will join our design team and work on various projects such as product UI, marketing website, marketing assets, and design system. You will collaborate with different teams, use various tools and technologies, and contribute to open-source projects. Your main responsibilities will include:
– Actively contributing to website design, core product design, and the company’s early-stage design system
– Collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop new features and improve existing ones
– Designing in Figma and using tools like Next.js, Chakra UI, and Framer motion
– Helping the marketing team with design assets
– Utilizing your coding skills to contribute to open-source projects and make coding tutorials look visually appealing
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:
– Self-starter with a strong sense of responsibility
– Proficient in motion design and UI coding
– Able to work on various design projects, from marketing websites to product dashboards
– Knowledgeable in CSS and experienced in using design systems like Chakra UI and Tailwind
– Familiar with Git and GitHub
– Significant experience in Figma and a keen eye for aesthetics
Nice to have:
While not essential, the following skills and experiences would be beneficial for the role:
– Engineering skills with coding expertise in APIs, HTML, CSS, JavaScript (React), and A11y
– Basic data visualization skills
– Experience with databases like MySQL, Postgres, and MongoDB
– Familiarity with open-source projects
– Interest in startups and launching products
– Knowledge in design systems and system design thinking
– Basic illustration skills using Figma
