Position: Backend Developer

Your Mission:

As a Backend Developer at Tellent, you will play a crucial role in developing robust backend solutions for our HR product, KiwiHR. Your expertise will help inform our team’s decisions on backend technologies and practices. You will also share your knowledge with colleagues, participate in code reviews, and uphold our high engineering standards and code quality. Your responsibilities will extend beyond coding, as you collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement new features and work closely with frontend developers to ensure seamless integration and functionality.

About the Team:

The KiwiHR product team consists of 20+ individuals, organized into smaller teams of 4-5 people. In our particular sub-team, you will work alongside two other Backend Developers and three Frontend Developers, supported by Design, QA, and DevOps teams. Despite working remotely and flexible hours, we maintain a strong sense of collaboration and camaraderie within our team, fostering a positive and enjoyable work environment.

Your 12-month Journey:

First 3 months: You will get to know the team, learn about the product and our processes. You will develop a deep understanding of the application’s workings and direction, and implement small features that will be used by our customers in production.

Within 6 months: You will be confident working independently and have a clear understanding of upcoming tasks. You will take on more complex features and contribute to technical documentation. Your understanding of our product and its purpose will be extensive.

After 1 year: You will have unparalleled knowledge of certain areas of the application. Your daily tasks will involve using features that you have implemented or extended. You will continue to develop new modules and assist in planning for the future. Changes in tools, codebase, and processes will reflect your suggestions, which the team has agreed to implement.

What You’ll Be Doing:

– Developing core modules for KiwiHR
– Maintaining and expanding existing modules, as well as creating new ones
– Collaborating with Developers, QAs, and Designers to deliver high-quality solutions
– Ensuring the stability, quality, and maintainability of the code base
– Proposing innovative solutions to challenges
– Identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks and bugs
– Participating in code reviews and creating technical documentation

What You’ll Bring to the Team:

– Proficiency in modern JavaScript and TypeScript
– Minimum 2 years of commercial experience in backend development with Node.js
– Experience with Express.js or similar frameworks
– Knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle)
– Familiarity with ORM libraries (Sequelize, TypeORM or similar)
– Experience with testing frameworks (Mocha, Jest)
– Understanding of GraphQL APIs
– Proficiency in Git
– Understanding of asynchronous programming
– Excellent collaboration and communication skills in Polish and English
– Problem-solving mindset
