We are currently seeking a Full-Time Software Engineer for our Customer Solutions team within the Americas region. We are specifically looking for candidates within the timezones of UTC -5 to UTC -8. Please note that applicants in other timezones will not be considered, even if they are willing to adjust their working hours.
As a Software Engineer at Discourse, you will be a generalist and have the opportunity to work on a variety of tasks, such as complex JavaScript features implemented in Ember.js or our Ruby on Rails API server. The majority of your work will be open source, but you will also have a focus on improving our hosting infrastructure and assisting with customer-specific implementations and migrations.
All applicants will undergo a 10-40 hour paid trial project (over 2-10 weeks) prior to joining the team. This project typically involves adding a feature to Discourse or a Discourse plugin.
Your responsibilities will include:
– Daily communication with clients to prioritize work
– Implementation and documentation of client features
– Discussion and decision-making with internal Discourse teams on core vs. client plugin features
– Maintenance of client-specific features against latest core versions
– Highlighting new critical core features to high-profile clients
– Scheduling and deploying patches and upgrades
We are looking for someone who has experience with Ruby and JavaScript, is passionate about open source, and is comfortable with public code reviews. Additionally, we value individuals who have a knack for implementing processes, technologies, and solutions in a fast-paced environment.
