Senior Software Engineer III – Mendix at Energy Solutions

Energy Solutions is seeking a Senior Software Engineer III to join our Information Systems team and help us deliver proven, performance-based solutions for our utility, government, and institutional customers. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to make a real impact on energy efficiency markets and greenhouse gas reductions while working on projects for major North American utilities and other clients across the country.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science, and at least 5 years of relevant experience. However, we also encourage candidates with 5 or more years of work experience in related technologies to apply. As a Senior Software Engineer III, you will bring deep technical expertise and a team-oriented approach to implementing systems that meet the needs of our clients and support our energy and cost savings goals. Your experience with Mendix, relational databases, and coding will be crucial in this role. Experience with Python, Django, JavaScript, and React is a plus, as is any experience in the energy industry.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will work closely with cross-functional teams using agile principles to deliver solutions that have a positive impact on the business. You will collaborate with business partners throughout the application development lifecycle to prototype, create, iterate, and deploy apps. You will also help business developers maintain apps with quality and consistency by sharing best practices based on your programming experience. Other responsibilities include designing scalable application architectures, building apps using low-code development tools, and extending the platform’s functionality through coding. You will collaborate with python/Django software engineers to build or use APIs to exchange data between apps and other software systems. You will also participate in code reviews, agile ceremonies, and technical discussions with internal clients, project managers, and other software engineers.
Minimum Qualifications
To be considered for this role, candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science, and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. Experience with Mendix is required, with a minimum of 5 years of experience building production systems using this platform. Candidates must also have experience with relational databases, such as MySQL, SQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle, and the ability to communicate and facilitate technical discussions between various stakeholders. Experience with Mendix Application Testing Suite (ATS) is a plus, as is experience with Python, Django, JavaScript, or React. Any energy-related experience is also a plus.
Compensation
Compensation for this position is commensurate with experience and includes a generous retirement package. The pay band for this role is $115,000-$135,000 per year.
