Position: Data Analyst at Octane Lending

Responsibilities:
– Collaborate with the finance team to support data functions, including developing and updating complex SQL queries and performing data analysis to derive important financial metrics.
– Work with the Data Engineering team to identify opportunities for improvement in data pipelines and develop solutions to automate data transfer processes.
– Become an expert in Octane’s financial data models to provide stakeholders with quick and easy access to key data on loan applications, originations, and loan performance.
– Support the adoption of data discovery and visualization tools such as Atlan and Tableau.
– Create and maintain data dictionaries and catalogs to help stakeholders understand data definitions and examples.
– Promote a data-driven, test-and-learn culture and effectively communicate insights through data storytelling.
Requirements:
– Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as applied math, statistics, econometrics, or engineering, or equivalent experience from a bootcamp program.
– 1-2 years of experience in data analysis at a finance or technology company, or a related Master’s degree.
– Familiarity with database systems like AWS Redshift / Athena or equivalents.
– Proficiency in basic/mid-level Excel.
– Hands-on experience writing SQL queries.
Preferred Skills / Nice to Haves:
– Proficiency in working with multiple types of databases and SQL dialects.
– Familiarity with cloud-based data environments, specifically with Amazon Web Services (AWS) technologies.
– Programming experience in Python and Tableau.
– Ability to recognize data patterns and identify discrepancies.
– Comfortable working in a fast-paced, autonomous environment and excellent problem-solving skills.
Compensation:
This position offers a base salary ranging from $64,000 to $80,000, based on qualifications, location, and internal equity. In addition to the salary, we offer a stock option package and the following benefits:
