Founded by the youngest US radiologist in history, Rad AI is dedicated to empowering physicians with AI to save time, reduce burnout, and improve patient care. Our AI combines deep expertise in healthcare and AI with one of the largest proprietary radiology report datasets in the world. This has led to uncovering hundreds of new cancer diagnoses for patients and reducing the error rate in tens of millions of radiology reports by almost 50%.

We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Staff Software Engineer to join our AI product team. In this role, you will be responsible for building innovative interfaces that equip healthcare professionals with powerful AI tools. You will work closely with a talented team of engineers, researchers, designers, and product teams to design and implement AI-powered experiences that push the boundaries of what is possible in healthcare.

Key Responsibilities:

– Developing powerful solutions that leverage AI to streamline healthcare tasks and improve patient care
– Collaborating with ML Engineers, Research Scientists, and Product Software Engineers to implement AI solutions directly in our full-stack applications
– Implementing tools and processes to monitor model behavior, performance, and alignment with user needs throughout the AI development lifecycle
– Working on a modern stack that includes Javascript (React/Typescript) for the frontend, FastAPI Python for the backend, and various data pipeline tools
– Writing high-quality code that meets internal standards for security, style, maintainability, and best practices in a high-scale HIPAA web environment
– Working with a highly cross-functional team including product managers, UX researchers, customer success, and other stakeholders

Requirements:

– 6+ years of full-stack engineering experience in single and multi-tenanted environments
– Extensive knowledge of Javascript/Typescript, Python, and FastAPI (or equivalent modern languages/frameworks)
– Familiarity with relational and document-based databases, as well as other large-scale data storage paradigms
– Understanding of modern web architecture and best practices
– Proficiency in HTML, CSS, responsive design, and related web technologies
– Experience with data modeling and data pipeline design to support product and ML monitoring, evaluation, and iteration
– Experience with unit and integration testing
– Experience working on a distributed team and strong version control skills using Git
– Excellent communication and technical coordination skills

Nice to haves:

– Experience with Typescript and React
– Experience with Python, FastAPI, Starlette, and SQLAlchemy
– Experience with PostgreSQL
– Experience working at an early-stage startup
– Experience in a HIPAA-compliant environment, particularly with FHIR and HL7
– Experience working on machine learning products
