Position: Senior Machine Learning Engineer

Mission:
Databricks’ Machine Learning (ML) Practice team is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join our highly specialized team. Our team works with customers to deliver professional services, build, scale, and optimize ML pipelines, and put those pipelines into production. We collaborate with cross-functional teams to shape long-term strategic priorities and initiatives, and provide technical mentorship to the larger ML SME community.
Impact:
As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer, you will have the opportunity to:
– Develop Large Language Model (LLM) solutions for customers, including RAG architectures, querying structured data with natural language, and content generation
– Build, scale, and optimize customer data science workloads using best-in-class MLOps practices across various domains
– Advise data teams on data science architecture, tooling, and best practices
– Present at conferences, such as the Data+AI Summit
– Provide technical mentorship to the larger ML SME community within Databricks
– Collaborate with product and engineering teams to define priorities and influence the product roadmap
Qualifications:
We are looking for individuals with the following qualifications:
– Experience building Generative AI applications, including RAG, agents, text2sql, fine-tuning, and deploying LLMs, using tools such as HuggingFace, Langchain, and OpenAI
– 5+ years of hands-on industry data science experience, utilizing machine learning and data science tools such as pandas, scikit-learn, TensorFlow/PyTorch
– Experience building production-grade machine learning deployments on AWS, Azure, or GCP
– A graduate degree in a quantitative discipline (Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Operations Research, etc.) or equivalent practical experience
– Ability to effectively communicate and teach technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
– Passion for collaboration, continuous learning, and driving business value through ML
– [Preferred] Experience working with Databricks & Apache Spark to process large-scale distributed datasets
