Engineering Manager – Oura

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to join our Women’s Health team in the USA. In this role, you will lead a squad of 6-8 talented mobile app engineers and drive innovation at the intersection of wearable technology and Women’s Health. Your team will have a significant impact not only on key company initiatives but also on the industry as a whole by promoting women’s body literacy and giving women’s bodies a voice.
What You Will Do:
– Manage a team of Android and iOS engineers in designing, building, and maintaining Oura app features related to women’s bodies and health
– Oversee and manage the development and delivery of complex cross-functional projects, collaborating closely with engineering teams and colleagues in the EU
– Contribute to project planning and scoping and take ownership of execution and delivery of engineering efforts
– Collaborate with stakeholders from various teams, including Product, Design, Science, Research, Data Science, Regulatory, Marketing, and others across our global organization
– Mentor team members to support their professional growth and development
– Provide technical leadership to the team, participating in technical discussions and making sound decisions that impact entire projects
– Champion engineering excellence, establish key metrics, and drive continuous operational improvements
– This is a remote role in the USA, with residency in the country required. Our main US office is in San Francisco, and we also have an office in San Diego. We also have employee hubs in cities like New York, Boston, Los Angeles, and Seattle, providing opportunities for occasional local co-working.
Requirements:
We are looking for someone who:
– Has a minimum of 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 2 years as a manager of software engineers
– Holds a technical degree or equivalent work experience in software engineering
– Has experience shipping consumer-facing mobile applications and/or the systems that power them
– Is familiar with Agile/Scrum processes and can advocate for process improvements
– Possesses strong communication, project management, and delegation skills
– Can drive cross-functional projects from start to finish, ensuring successful product launches
– Has excellent people management skills, recognizing and celebrating achievements while also providing constructive feedback
– Is open to feedback and has a growth mindset
– Understands the importance of promoting well-being, managing workload, and fostering a healthy work-life balance for both themselves and their team
– Has a passion for addressing underserved needs in women’s health
We would also appreciate if you have:
– 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 4 years as a manager of software engineers
– Previous professional experience in either Android or iOS native app development (strongly preferred)
– Experience delivering software products related to women’s health or wellness (strongly preferred)
– Experience with FDA-regulated products or other regulated health industries
– Experience with wearable devices and/or machine learning algorithms
– Experience with complex projects involving mobile, backend, data science, firmware, and QA, acting as the team’s point of contact for release management to ensure timely production deployments
– Collaborative development experience working asynchronously with teams in different countries, time zones, and cultures

– Oura takes a market-based approach to pay, which may vary depending on your location. US locations are divided into tiers based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. While most offers will be within the starting range, successful candidates’ pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, internal peer equity, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
– Region 1: $162,000-$200,000
– Region 2: $150,000-$185,000
– Region 3: $139,000-$172,000
