Job Description:
AllTrails is seeking a Lead Product Designer to join our team. This is a remote position based in the United States, with a preference for candidates in the San Francisco Bay Area to come into the office one day a week.
As a member of our small and talented product design team, you will report to the Design Director and work closely with product management, research, engineering, and marketing to create innovative products that enhance the user experience on our platform. You will lead the design efforts across various areas of the product, including Discovery, Search, Planning, and Community, while also collaborating with other designers to maintain a consistent and high-quality design across all platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
– Develop a best-in-class product and brand for AllTrails
– Create engaging and visually appealing experiences for web, iOS, and Android
– Identify product gaps and opportunities for improvement
– Facilitate and lead stakeholder reviews, prioritizing and incorporating feedback
– Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and document product requirements
– Provide mentorship and coaching to other designers
– Advocate for the needs of our users
– Contribute to and help evolve our design system
– Set high standards for design quality and actively seek and provide feedback
– Contribute to the overall culture of the design team
Qualifications:
– 7+ years of experience designing and shipping consumer-facing products for web and mobile platforms
– Passion for solving complex problems with elegant and engaging user experiences
– Strong product design skills, including UX, visual design, and interaction design
– Ability to use research, metrics, and usability to inform and evolve design decisions
– Experience collaborating with product management and engineering to develop and optimize new product features
– Understanding of project timelines and scope prioritization
– Ability to share work early and seek constructive feedback
– Self-motivated and able to work independently
– Knowledge of design, prototyping, and research tools (e.g. Figma, Proto Pie, Usertesting.com)
– Humble, empathetic, and open-minded
– Passion for promoting inclusivity in design (e.g. international, multi-language, accessible use cases)
– Experience working in diverse environments (e.g. large and small companies, agencies)
– Bonus: portfolio showcasing diverse design experience
