Senior Software Engineer – Place Exchange

Place Exchange, a leader in the out-of-home digital ad exchange industry, is seeking a driven Senior Software Engineer to join their team. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will have the opportunity to solve complex problems, contribute to highly scalable systems, and play a key role in shaping the team’s roadmap and technical strategy.

Responsibilities:

– Independently ship small to large features
– Collaborate with other senior engineers to deliver key initiatives
– Mentor and work with fellow software engineers to enhance the platform
– Contribute to the team’s best practices for software development, including documentation, comprehensive testing, and code instrumentation

Qualifications:

– 4-6 years of full-stack software engineering experience
– Proficiency in Python or other server-side languages such as Java or Node
– Experience with frontend technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
– Strong experience with functional and unit testing
– Knowledge of metrics and monitoring tools for performance optimization
– Experience in cloud-based technical solutions and mentoring junior developers
– Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills
– Excellent communication and collaboration skills
– Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or relevant experience in the industry

Technology and tools used:

– Python, Django, JavaScript, and React
– AWS Lambda, Kubernetes
– Postgres, S3, Elasticsearch, Dynamo, Snowflake
– Spark, Airflow

Interview process:

– 1 or 2 preliminary phone screens
– Virtual onsite with 4-5 rounds spread across 1 or 2 days, including stakeholders, development and infrastructure teams, hiring manager, and CTO (optional)

First 30 days:

– Understand Place Exchange’s goals, product roadmap, and tools
– Diagnose and troubleshoot production application issues

First 60 days:

– Gain a deep understanding of Place Exchange’s landscape
– Collaborate with team members on committed initiatives
– Incorporate best practices from other engineering teams

First 90 days:

– Provide technical leadership to the development team
– Drive architecture aligned with the overall service architecture
– Foster innovation in technologies, processes, and tools
– Deliver projects on time and budget while maintaining high-quality standards
– Mentor and develop team members while promoting an inclusive culture
– Define and enforce development practices, including unit tests and code reviews
– Gain a deep understanding of the business environment and strategy
