Job Description:
As the Head of Data at Gemini, you will play a crucial role in shaping our approach to data and leveraging it to drive business growth. You will lead and manage a high-performing team, including machine learning, data engineering, platform, and analytics experts. Your experience and communication skills will enable you to collaborate with various business teams and develop innovative data solutions. You will inspire and mentor your team, sharing your passion for data and its potential to transform decision-making and drive solutions in the exciting world of cryptocurrency. Additionally, you will communicate insights and drive new product development both internally and externally.
Responsibilities:
– Lead and scale our data infrastructure and optimize our warehouse’s performance
– Design and implement top-of-the-line data warehousing and reporting solutions
– Define and drive the vision for data management, analytics, and data culture
– Collaborate with executive leadership to integrate data initiatives into business strategies
– Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of our data platform, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security
– Lead design discussions and meetings
– Manage and maintain the end-to-end data ecosystem, ensuring data integrity and driving data-driven decision-making throughout the organization
– Design, automate, build, and launch efficient and reliable data pipelines into production
– Develop advanced analytics, reporting solutions, and dashboards to provide actionable insights to stakeholders
– Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of ETL processes, data warehouses, and data lakes
– Research and implement new tools and technologies to improve existing processes
– Implement best practices for data modeling, architecture, and integration across various data sources
– Develop new systems and tools to enable teams to consume and understand data more intuitively
– Partner with engineers, project managers, and analysts to deliver insights to the business
– Own responsibilities related to root cause analysis, production and data issues, and validation
Minimum Qualifications:
– 12-20+ years of experience in data engineering with data warehouse technologies
– 5-7+ years of experience in taking data infrastructure to the next level, including overhauling data pipelines, architecture, and modeling
– 10+ years of experience in custom ETL design, implementation, and maintenance
– 10+ years of experience with schema design and dimensional data modeling
– Experience building real-time data solutions and processes
– Experience building and integrating web analytics solutions
– Experience with AI/ML tools and techniques, including deploying machine learning models in production
– Strong knowledge of traditional and modern data tools and technologies, including SQL, Python, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), and big data frameworks
– Strong understanding of data governance, compliance, and security best practices
– Experience with one or more MPP databases (Redshift, Bigquery, Snowflake, etc.)
– Experience with one or more ETL tools (Airflow, AWS Glue, Informatica, Pentaho, SSIS, Alooma, etc.)
– Experience building cross-functional teams across different departments
– Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Qualifications:
– Experience in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, particularly in tech or a data-driven industry
– Hands-on experience with AI/ML frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar

Salary Range:
The base salary range for this role is between $269,000 – $336,000 in the states of New York, California, and Washington. This range does not include our discretionary bonus or equity package. When determining a candidate’s compensation, we consider factors such as skill set, experience, job scope, and current market data.
